Peru – Animals

Even though nobody mentioned animals, I have to admit.  This was also a cool part of the trip.  There are three different scenes (clearly) in this gallery.  We went to a spot in Cusco named Millmas where they raised some Alpacas for their wool.  They have a ton of great clothes inside and, out of character, we spent some loot on a few things.  It was a cool spot and it was a cool stop.

The second set of pics, clearly from a different place, was from an open-air animal market.  We were just wandering the street and saw a woman with a bunny rabbit.  Fair enough.  We see odd things all the time.  Then we turned  the corner and realized the whole street was full of people selling animals – dogs, cats, guinea pigs, rabbits, chickens, and whatever else (all small animals… no llamas or alpacas).  I’d be lying if I didn’t admit to thinking:  this is how the covid pandemic started. [side note: this is basically where we saw the first black person we found in Peru… LOL]

The third set is me remembering why I’m not a wildlife photographer.  Our hotel had a bunch of hummingbird feeders and I took advantage of some free time to try and snap a few pics.  I’m not too disappointed, but I’m not thrilled with them either.  It’s a lot easier to get birds that sit still!

Meet Majaheed. We had an awesome conversation about a US expat living as a Black man in Peru.
