I honestly didn’t know what to expect when we decided to visit the Atacama Desert. I actually hadn’t heard of it before Caro told me that it was a special place for her in our podcast discussion. As I was putting the trip together, it was “on the way”, so I decided to book a spot and go check it out. I’m glad we did.
I didn’t know it was “the driest place on Earth” until our guide told us. It was also hot as hell on the several of the days we were there. We visited San Pedro, but mostly focused on the excursions and walks from our hotel. I’m not a landscape photographer, but I tried my best to capture some of the scenes that I thought were really interesting.
The hot springs, the moon valley, and star gazing and the whole vibe were really great. We even got a cool iPhone photo of the moon through a telescope.
I totally see why this could be a really special place for people that want to experience a change of pace for the better. The stars at night are more plentiful here.
I also got to snap a few animals, some people, and of course, the landscapes. For the photogs among you – i didn’t use a polarizer. Maybe next time.
There are more stars here than in Chicago.
