Chiang Mai & Chiang Rai, Thailand

We’ve made it a point to follow the advice of our friends and try some of the things they suggest.  Our first stop in Thailand was Chiang Mai.  Oakley suggested we get out of the cities, so we spent a long day checking out temples and sights in Chiang Rai.  Binkey lived in Chiang Mai for a few years, and he had some great suggestions.  Specifically, he told us about this weekly jazz “open session” and some good spots for food (of course, he’s a legend there).

Chiang Mai was a fun stop with some laid back vibes.  We didn’t over schedule and took our time walking around and just hanging out a bit.  There were some easy sites to see, and a 1/2 day tuk-tuk tour covers a lot of them.  I also met some great people that were willing to model for me!

Big fan of Chiang Mai.

If you ever wondered what it’d be like building a new temple today, the Blue Temple answers that question by including a lot of contemporary imagery alongside the religious stuff. In this case, Predator (?!?!)
