It was simple. Every Tuesday, my guy Binkey used to host a set at this the North Gate Jazz Co-op. It wasn’t clear what it actually one, because they have jazz a few times a week. However, on Tuesdays they open it up to anyone that wants to jump in. That’s right, you can bring an instrument or just hop in after singing your name on the list.
The result? Absolute magic. This was easily a highlight of our time in Thailand. The diversity of people playing the music and listening reminded me of the hop hop dance events I snap all over the world.
Oh yeah, and the talent level of the musicians (especially the drummers) was off the chain. Good lord. I wish we had something like this back home. I’d be there every week.
The gallery contains photos and I’ll toss in some unedited videos at the end so you can get a sense of what it was like inside.
