Vientiane, Lao PDR

Most itineraries in Lao PDR only include Luang Prabang.  I wanted to see a little more than that, so we included 2 days in the capital city, Vientiane.  I try to make sure we get multiple stops in each country if we can.  I’m so glad this worked out.

In a surprise twist, Tomi (from the Laos podcast), bumped into us at the airport!  After getting settled in out hotel, we grabbed a great lunch and smoothies in the capital.  I spent the late afternoon and evening going for a walk and doing some street portraits (that gallery is here).  The next day I booked an all day tour to see the main sites in the city.

Honestly, I think everyone should take 1-2 days to explore the capital.  It’s a really ice city and verrrryyyyy chill.  After two weeks in Vietnam, the change of pace was really nice.  Buddha Park and other highlights of the city make it a “must visit” in my opinion.
